The GWS Giants are on the lookout for new talent, as the club has announced it will be hosting an AFLW Testing Day on September 3.
NSW and ACT athletes are invited to apply for the day, with the Giants offering a very real opportunity to be drafted.
Following in the footsteps of the Western Bulldogs, Melbourne and Fremantle, the Testing Day will be used to evaluate athletes from all backgrounds who will be eligible for the 2017 AFLW Draft.
Interested athletes are advised to nominate before close on Friday, August 18, and will be contacted by Monday, August 21 if they have successfully received an invite.
Successful athletes will be required to be at Tom Wills Oval at Sydney Olympic Park by 9am for a 10am start, with testing to finish at 4pm at the latest.
For any athletes uncertain about spots on the Giants’ playing list, now is the best time to chance your arm.
Unlike other states, there appears to be a talent gap this year between last year’s draftees and next year’s eligible selections.
With only a handful of players seen as AFLW calibre on the Giants’ radar, this is the perfect time to make your mark.
The club has also shown a willingness to sign players from other sports, finding key roles for both former Matilda Ellie Brush and WNBL legend Jess Bibby in their 2017 line-up.
