The Fremantle Dockers are offering two seperate opportunities for athletes aspiring to make the AFLW.
Following in the footsteps of the Western Bulldogs and Melbourne Demons, the Dockers will be holding a rookie talent search day on Saturday, July 29 between 1pm and 4pm at Victor George Kailis Oval, Cockburn Central.
Athletes eligible for the rookie talent search day are those who have not have played Australian rules football or been involved in a high performance AFL program in the three years up to April 1, 2017.
Nominations will be open on the Fremantle club website from 9am on Thursday, July 6 until 5pm on Tuesday, July 18.
On top of the rookie talent search, the same opportunity to earn a spot on the Dockers’ list will be afforded to draft eligible players on Saturday, September 9.
Also between 1pm and 4pm at Victor George Kailis Oval, the Dockers be searching for players to draft come Wednesday, October 18, the date of the 2017 AFL Women’s Draft.
As with the rookie search, players will be able to nominate for the second date via the Fremantle website, and nominations will open at 9am on Tuesday, August 15 and close at 5pm on Friday, August 25.
Fremantle will be looking for the best available talent to help improve on its seventh-place finish in season 2017, an underwhelming result after being premiership favourites before the first bounce.
The Dockers are already buoyed by the free agency signing of premiership-winning midfielder Kellie Gibson, and the impending return of marquee signing Kiara Bowers, who missed the inaugural season due to an ACL injury.
These two talent search days will be integral to the Dockers turning their form around in 2018.
